Default Negative effects of using GSR length rods on an LS crank?

Trying to set up my LS for turbo, sleeved, bored, lots of boost, the whole nine. Trying to figure out a decent crank/rod/piston set up.

Rod stroke and piston speed is apparently an issue for the LS crank, so one option is to use GSR length rods on the LS crank, and use forged pistons that will match those rods. Would there be any negative effects of a set up like this? Anything to watch out for? Any other suggestions? I dont want to use a different crank, if it comes down to that then Ill just get a different block which I dont want to do.

the gsr rods are too long for the ls crank where the crank has a short r/s ratio.....the slugs would push up past the head.

They would but you could get custom pistons made with the pin moved up and it would then work fine.

How complicated is it to get a custom piston like that? will they know what I need if I tell them Im using GSR length rods on an LS crank? or will I have to provide them with specs or measurements?

Itd be a lot easier (and cheaper) to get LS rods, some heavy duty rod bolts (like ARP), and get them strengthened. Just my opinion.

"get them strengthened"?? can you explain that? arent these rods already supposed to be strengthened?

If you get ls rods theyve got a process called shotpeening, it makes them more durable at higher rpms. Some people say you don't need to do it with the stronger rod bolts, but better safe than sorry IMO

I was gonna get a set of Eagle rods with upgraded bolts that are the length of GSR rods. Arent they already shotpeened, etc?

yeah, definitely, eagle rods would be perfect for that block. Just get them for LS rather than the gsr crank, and you'll be golden.
