Default highest rev for stock b16 but still safe

how high can i rev with a stock b16 and not bend valves or mess up anything, the reason for this Q is not to gain hp or nething like that, its because i wanna get my ecu reprogrammed and the rev limits on these chips range from 8500 and up and i dont wanna blow my motor by accidently reving over 8k. thanx

If the engine is completely stock you aren't gonna make much power over 8k anyways. You will start experiencing valve float well before 9k. I seriously wouldn't rev that stock engine over 8500 even if the bottom end can handle that all day long.

From what I understand the valves start floating right around 8500, if not before. They don't really give much of a safety factor when it comes to valve float. Designing them to rev higher would result in less gas mileage, power, and durability....

I don't know if it's a "once in a while" thing. They'll either hit and bend or they won't.

Don't rev higher than stock with OE valve springs. After that rod bolts are usually the next thing to go, they start to lose integrity around 9500. If you're using stock cams, you don't need to be revving that high; unless showing off how high you can rev is cool..

I overrevved occasionally with my B16a to 9500 rev limit (chipped PW0) with stock springs and retainers.. I checked valve clearance when I sold it.. no problem at all.. none whatsoever actually

ya like i said its not for speed, cuz i just blew a motor using a chipped ecu that revs til 10k cuz i mishifted and the motor reved that high, so my Q is if i get a chip that revs to 8500 will the same thing happen?
