Default How small is too small ? Low budget turbo B16...

We are trying to put together a low budget B16 turbo kit for my buddy's civic ferio. He was able to score cheap turbo in good condition, he says it's a Garrett T2 (never knew there was a T2... and haven't actually seen it yet...)

But that sounds hella small.... he's staying auto and just wants to run 7-8psi on the hack for a little power... not necessarily to race... just a daily driver. Would the T2 just run out of steam waaay too early ? I would figure it'd die out around 6500rpm just by looking at a pic of the housing.

Hey it's better than nothing. Also, when he has enough money to get a bigger snail he can just swap them....

Well... we're looking at a one shot deal... it's a daily driver and his wife rolls with it sometimes... so not exactly looking for a monster... but I just wanna make sure this 't2' isn't going to be horribly mismatched...

I would like to feel how quickly this thing spools tho !

Probaly wouldn't be worth it just because of that wacky flange your going to have to deal with.

Tha turbine housing looks crazy restrictive. Get a cheap T-25, 13g, or 14b.

Or a T3, if you can find one. All of the above should be about the same price, and will work much better.

hehehehe..... thing is he already has it... I just trying to figure out if it's worth the hassle to find another turbo. We can get old evo turbos or ones from rb's or sr's.... but with only 8 max psi of boost... I figured might not be worth stepping up.

keep in mind this thing is AUTO and staying that way....

I would just tell him to look for a decent T3, at least he will have good response from the turbo and i think thats a good start. Its not very big and not tooo small IMO

If you wanna get rid of it I'll take it. That turbo would even choke a D-series.
