breaking in engine?

Default breaking in engine?

I just rebuilt a d16y8 (new bearings and such). what i should do and how long to properly break it in. And can i drive i the highway if i keep it at low rpm's? Thanks

id say something like 2000 miles should be just fine, 5000 is a bit excessive...

theres a link that was posted here about breaking in a motor saying you dont have to and to beat on it to properly break it in. if anyone has that link post it up, i cant find it.

jus dont rag on the motor for about 500-1000 miles. it'l be fine.

keep the rpms low.. try not to go over 55 for the first 1000 miles ... and dont use sythetic oil for the first 2 or three oil changes . ..

To properly break in an engine you should drive it as you normally would to seat the rings properly. Also use dino for 2 or 3 oil changes before switching to synthetic.

cruis for about 50 miles and then get on it more and more until you finally hit red line
