h22 swap
ok i am about to order my motor from hmotors and i have a 91 accord and i am doing an h22 swap ok. after we pu the motor in has any one had any probs like some thing not working or just any small stuff i would like ot no
actually i would like to tell you my story w/ my swap...
i have a 94 honda accord w/ a jdm h22a i ordered from hmotors online...
well the motor came in in pretty good condition and we did the swap...
there were no problems until a few weeks later, i was driving and sounded like the transmission bearings from the motor came out...and wouldnt get in gear...when i went to honda to talk to my mechanic there...he opened it up and found out that my flywheel bolts werent torque'd to spec and came out and that my crankshaft, flywheel and clutch were bad due to it...so i called up h motors and he sent me a new clutch /flywheel/and pressure plate and crank...
i mean it was good that they did that...but i wasted TONS of money for the labor you know what i mean? cuz they had to take it out and put it on again and again...
but now my accord runs very smoothly
(except for the bad egr valve they gave me
)
well i had a bad experience...but remember, you will ALWAYS run into problems with swaps, just a a part of life i guess
well good luck w/ your swap and put some hurtin to them imports AND domestics

are you serious???
did you not replace the clutch and pressure plate before installing the new motor? i can't believe h motors gave you parts, i sure as hell wouldn't. if you would have replaced that stuff before like you should have then you would have never had a problem. remember this a junkyard motor, not new, you have to treat it that way and sometimes **** is going to be broke when you buy it, like your egr valve. you should not run into problems so long as your swap is installed properly which if you replace maintenance items before you drop in the motor you can save yourself from future issues. most people have problems when they try to be cheap and cut corners by not replacing stuff like timing belt, water pump, clutch, spark plug seals, cam seals, and other stuff that is part of maintenance on a old motor.

that's kinda what i was thinking.....that motor has been across the world, if you can't afford to replace the stuff, at least check it out, make sure it's tight and unbroken, or something.......that wasn't hmotorsonline's fault
my motor is still 100% fine and it's been just over a year.......had zero problems with it......

U will NEED to replace the following items:
T-belt
Water pump
Balancer shafts belt(if u keep it)
Balancer shaft seal(get the retainer from honda too)
Cam seals
Valve cover gasket
Spark plug seals
Oil pan gasket
Oil cooler o-ring
Vtec press switch seal(with screen)
Clutch
Rear main seal
Thats if u want the install perfect.People fail to think that yes they are low mileage engines, but they have been sitting around for awhile, and cleaned millons of times with harsh cleaners.Which those cleaners will eat up rubber seals and ****.

i did an h22a in my 92 accord last summer and its still fine about 6,000 miles later. you should always replace the things that might need to be replaced, especially the things that are hard to get to after the motor is in.

I know of a place that sells JDM swaps, and I believe they have a warranty, all of them are preinspected and cleaned, maybe you should check it out, normal shipping is around $300. Here's the link http://www.totaljdm.com/?id=36226
