Default accord trouble

when my shift is on Parking and i rev up the engine, the tachometer just goes up to 5k and just stays there, it just throttles at 5k and won't go any further, is there anything wrong with this?

Real answer: it is a rev limiter so you won't kill your motor by revving and so you won't kill the transission by revving it up and dropping it into drive.
Smart *** answer: It is a troll living in your motor just waiting for you to try and rev for all them hotties staring while you are cruising. Also it is so that your M4D 3rD g34r VTACKKKK does not hurt anyone while you are in park.

I'm not familiar with every generation of Accords yet, but I'm reasonably sure that they their redline is below 8k...correct?

If this is true, your friend is a moron.

It doesn't matter if I don't understand the question or not (and I do just in case you were wondering)

No accord revs to 8k on stock valvetrain, so why was he trying to rev his there?
