Default obd1 jdm b16a in a EK.....

before i start, YES I DID SEARCH. everyone kept saying obd2 to obd1 harness and obd1 ecu. i want to stay obd2. im thinking about getting a obd1 jdm b16a and putting it in my 97 ex. i know some things need to be changed because i want to keep my car obd2a. what all do i need to change to get this motor obd2a compatible. injectors, dizzy, ecu?? if theres more to it, please let me know before i make the mistake of buying one and gettting into more than i want to. thanks H-T

you would need obd2 distributor, injectors, ecu. Either get a 99-00 b16 swap where its obd2, or just keep the jdm b16a obd1, IMO run a b16a obd1, more tuning options available.

not an option for keeping it obd1. i will eventually have to smog this thing so i just want to get it obd2 converted from the start. dont really care too much about tuning. i got a turbo kit im throwing on and will be tuning via afc2 and 450cc dsm inj. just need all the info necessary on making this engine obd2a. i heard somthing about a crank positing sensor or something about switching oil pumps because of a sensor that an obd2 ecu would be looking for??? help.........

If you get a JDM obd2 ecu you will not have to change anything. drop in the motor plug in the ecu. you will have to rewire distributor, injectors, and alternator since you are using an OBD1 motor.

lol if it was that easy dont you think others would do the same? so demanding arent you "i have to have obd2a!!!" well why dont you buy a obd2a motor then.

to answer your question now... there are many things you will have to change over. obd2a - dizzy, injectors, altenator, you will also need to install a CRANK ANGLE SENSOR behind the crank pulley. these came on the obd2 B series motors such as 96-2001 b18c1 and 96-97 delsol b16a3 motors.

the IAT sensor can be plugged into the sensor thats on the intake manifold.

i beleive thats about it.

Actually the jdm ecu to my knowledge does not look for those sensors which you are talking about and all the motor parts will work with an OBD2 ecu if it is a japanese ecu. But then what is the purpose I am not to sure about the smog tests since we dont do that up here.
