To the best of my knowledge, they're the same. Maybe a few sensors here and there are different but the basic engine is the same. I went with a b20z.

We installed a B20b with stock GSR head w/itr cams and the car runs very strong. As for the differences between the b20 motors there is really no differ.

we have had several jd b20b engines at the shop and no outward difference,check the specs in the jdm car guide and sure enough the engine is the same as out us
version on both hp and tq.

Give my friends at CFM motorsports in Miami a call, they are the experts on B20VTECS. (786)242-3393 - ask for Forrest or Jared! 
(note: I say "experts" because they are the only one's I know that have 2 (thats right - let's say it together now..."tttwwwwoooo") B20VTECS in a '92 hatch (Championship white I might add)!!@#! - they don't have a website yet, but check out http://www.speedjunkie.org for pics of the car!
