Default State Ref'd Pros I need ur help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn chp popped me. Just wonderin... I have a 92 civic si hatch wit 98 gsr motor in there. I runnin a 95 gsr distributor and 95 p72. Everything else is stock accept for AEM intake. Will I pass the state ref? The reason I ask is cause I heard u have everything thats was in the swap the same year. As in the 98 distributor and 98 ecu. Is that true? thanks for the help in advance.

the ecu.. yes. the distributor no. so you might have to invest in a obdi-obdii jumper harness. make sure ur cat is still good, no cel, all wirings neat, vacuum's hoses routed correctly and u should pass

Everything has to be in the spec's of the motor. If the motor is OBD2 then everything needs to be OBD2. If the motor is OBD1 then everything needs to be OBD1. I dont think you could have a OBD2 motor and convert it to OBD1 and pass. But dont quote me on it, this is just my understanding. If i am wrong please correct me.

yes and yes! it also depends on how strict the ref will be, i heard they are much stricker if you got a ticket and sent there, than you going there on your own will to get a swap legalize, at least this was my case. you'll have to convert all the emissions in your car to OBDII. thats a lot of work. good luck

Tips on how i pass with my swap:
1. cleaned O2 sensor w/ brake cleaner the day before apoinment
2. change spark plugs, plug wires, air filter
3. change oil and oil filter hours before apointment
4. drove the car hard on the freeway for about 45minutes going to the ref station
5. make sure the cat gets really hot, ( i suggest sticking with oem)
6. run stock iron oem header ( holds heat better)
7. be nice and kiss *** like you've never kissed before, ref might like you
