RWD:if lsd didnt exist, open or closed diff?
76 280z, its nowhere near a roadrace car. Ive just seen some specs of some z race cars and a cpl of them had locked r200 differentials and I was just wondering what was up with that.
well, i don't know much about what can fit on there, but i would think you could find something for under $500 that would be much better than welding the thing together.
a welded diff wears on other parts as well because stuff gets all bound up when you're turning. find this month's issue of GRM, there's a good article about this very issue, but for FWD applications. although i would think that some of the stuff in there is still useful.
if it's not going to see track time........just leave the thing open for now. and even if it was, i'd still leave it open until you can put something proper on there.

I'm sort of lost on why this is a hypothetical. LSDs exist for that car (r200). Sort of like a hypo on would my farts stink on the moon? --irrelevant b/c I'm not on the moon.

Thats the type of answer I was looking for, thanks.
