QUICK - Oil pan gasket install QUICK
i have the oil pan out but im not sure on how to install the gasket.
im laying the gasket over the pan and theres this one hole where thers a petruding part thats bigger than than the hole. its located on the tranny side of the pan.
when i looked at the old pan, the hole is enlarged to fit over the petruded part.
do i force the gasket over it?
also, do i install the pan while the gasket is on the pan or do i put the gasket on the block and install the pan after?
thanks

you need something like honda-bond or gasket maker--
its goopy and sticky -- you push it out the tube like toothpaste and kinda make a thin layer with in on the oil pan itself---
then lay the gasket over it on the pan,.... let it dry for a few minutes... till its more tacky then put it on the motor. the gasket will only fit one way and should mold exactly to the pan-- no difference-- check to see if you have it right-- it can be flipped over.

so its gasket on the pan, then install? i have honda bond already.

the petruding hole on the transmission side oil pan

old gasket left, new at the right. notice the middle hole, its bigger on the old one.

the part # of the gasket i got. i asked for an integra gsr 94+

yeah, thats the right part number...........i just ordered that oilpan gasket as well..i also asked one for a gsr...havent done mine yet...hopefully some one will respond w/ some helpful info
someone, please. how to put the gasket over that bevel/petruding part? the hole for that petruding part also has a metal ring inside it.
are you sure the hole on the old gasket didn't come small and expand to be bigger?
and you don't use honda-bond, just tq the bolts to the right specs

I would use Hondabond on that gasket. Although Honda doesn't say it in the manual, it can't hurt anything. When I built my motor, I just used the Honda gasket without any Hondabond or anything, and a few months later it was leaking on me a bit all around the pan. I torqued everything to spec too.
If you put TOO MUCH HondaBond on the gasket, it kinda lubricates it. Then the gasket smooshes around & doesn't stay where it belongs. If you use that stuff, be real stingy with it.
the problem is not that it expanded, its more of fitting the hole on the thing that sticks out. the hole on the gasket itself has a metal ring so i cant just put it over.
if i just put it over the hole, and install the pan, the gasket will not be flush with the pan's surface.

That's really weird...i installed my oilpan this sunday and I'm pretty sure there wasn't a protruding part on my pan. Make sure you have the grooved side of the gasket facing the oipan
Get your helms out.
There's 4 places that you should put a *small* amount of hondabond, and nowhere else.
I know alot of people that do not even bother with HB on the oil pan gasket and have no problems at all. Just dont overtorque the nuts.

got the helms, both 94-97 and 98-01. engine block section right? there was honda bond on the corners of the gasket when i took it off so im doing the same. just cant figure out why it doesnt fit. more pictures will come soon.

the whole gasket is flush except for that one part. note the petruding part.

to show the width of it. gasket if flipped to show the difference in size. the hole in the gasket also has a metal ring inside it.

the petruding part by itself

LOL! i think that's the case...it didn't even occur to me that there were metal rings imbedded in the gasket that might have gotten stuck
