Default new speakers, but dont sound as good as they should??

first off, i have an older sony xplod deck (50w x4), 6.5" mtx door speakers, and clarion 6X9's (130w) in the back..stock tweeters. they do sound pretty good, definately better then stock, but when i turn it up loud it gets distorted, and the bass/treble quality is sloppy.

i would think they would scream at high levels. is this not happening because they arent amped? or because the deck is not quality? or something im missing? help me out

an amp...and you need some crossovers. i suggest some nice passive crossovers on each speaker...does WONDERS in filtering out bass.
