antennae help pls.
what year is your car? mine is a '90, and it does it, worse and worse. at the same time it is not pulling the antenna all the way down, right? I've decided that the plastic gear inside the motor housing is worn and the teeth are skipping. Once the antenna mast flexible shaft starts getting stiff, and its hard to push it into the housing, the teeth just start jumping. you need a new motor and gear. I've seen them on Ebay for $85 used. I expect the dealer cost is much higher.
Sounds like you just hafta replace the antenna mast assembly. You can get those from the dealer for aroun 50 bucks. It's real easy to replace. Send any questions to jfastman@yahoo.com
It's not the gear in the motor most of the time. The gears on the antenna mast "tape" are worn. You will want to remove the round cover on the motor/mast assembly to inspect the motor gears. When installing the new antenna mast, cut off the new sleeve that is on the mast. The old sleeve is nearly impossible to remove from the mast base. It will work just fine with the old sleeve still in place. If you have any questions send them to jfastman@yahoo.com
