Default Diagnose my distributor problem. With pict.

Pulled in to my garage just now, hear this pronounced squeaking from under the hood. Pop it and its coming from the distributor, pull off the cap and I find this rust colored dust obviously from something grinding on something else. What do I have to replace/fix/do? The motor is a JDM d15b, thanks.

pull the dizzy and rotate it,
it should rotate smoothly,
if it grinds, or wont turn, or is just plan tough to turn, then its blown and ya need a new one(whole damn dizzy)

hell.

How much would one be? (Whole unit)

as to the rotor itself, it seems fine when I wiped it off....

hahahhaha, thats cool. I didn't switch them when we did the motor swap, I think this one may be off my original d16z6 with indeterminate mileage. They hard to swap? just unbolts from the block with like 3 bolts right?

The number of fingers I have on one hand, count the number of times you've metioned junkyards. You sure must love those run down places.

no, actually i work at one

and it's not run down

it's a giant warehouse and the whole yard is.........you guessed it........indoor

no rain = no rust = no mess

so maybe you just don't have nice import salvage yards in Texas

the yard I work at makes nearly 10 grand a day.....at least. That is why i reccomend finding a GOOD yard.

Thanks again all, had a friend take me to my mechanics. Turned out he swapped my hi mileage dist from my old motor to my JDM since he thought the plugs might be different (didn't compare them, they're not) got the JDM one, cleaned it up, slapped it on, just went for a test drive, tach'd it out a few times, works great.

didnt replace the cap and rotor tho, the rotor on the jdm dist, and the cap I had were both in good condition
