Need Help: Malfunction Light Came on, stayed on - looked in manual
My malfunction light came on yest for about 3 seconds then went off (this was while driving). Now tonight coming home from work, the light came on, blinked and then stayed on. The other thing is my car just bogs down between 1500-3000 rpm's in 2,3,4, and 5th. Like when i am in that rpm range, i floor the gas but the tach goes up slowly like if i was barely on the gas. Then once I hit about 4k, its goes like normal. Also, when my car is parked but engine on...my idle is at 1200-1300 rpm's and my engine seems to knock, every few seconds, almost like a pattern. This is seriously worrying me, my car only has 83xx miles and all maintenance has been done like a nut (all fluids flushed twice, 7 oil changes).
I just got home, looked in my manual. It says it could be the gas cap. I checked it and its tight (4 clicks). The next thing to check was oil level, its full. Its right at the top circle/line. The manual says beyond this go to the dealership. I'm under warranty still (car bought jan 01) I am figuring to go there monday. Is there anything I could check on my own? I don't wanna drive my car due to this, I'm afraid of damaging my engine. any advice is appreciated.

any aftermarket parts installed? like a VAFC or MSD or anything? do you know how to check the code? did you check your plugs? otherwise if its under warranty just take it in and have them dianose it, then decide if you want them to do the work or not.
check your transmision, i had this problem with my civic back in the days, sounds somewhat the same... i'm flooring it but the rpms go up really slow till it hits a certain rpm and then it kicks in... usually in the lower gears or on starts...

what you said is exactly what happens with my car, now what would be wrong with my tranny?

well check your transmision.. it happend after my car got stolen and the people that stole it didnt know how to drive a manual... and they screwed my tranny up. i took it to a shop and they said it was my tranny, and once i got it fixed it was all good again..

you had all fluids flushed twice and 7 oil changes in 8300 miles?!?!?
jesus how much did that cost you? in fluids alone!?
hell its underwarranty, anything fault is going to get something new... might as well take it in. but pull the code first so the dealer isn't lying to you.

If your car is bogging while the Check Eninge Light is on the your ECU has gone into limp mode. This means the CEL is because of somethinge rather important. This isn't to say your car is going to explode, it is just telling you something rather important is not happy. Pull the code and get back to us.
took car to acura today...problem was 2 spark plugs went bad and also my wires. acura replaced all of it under warranty. car runs great now
I would have guessed misfire since the check engine light flashed. It warns the drive that they may do damage to the cat (overheat) if they continue to drive it.
