I posted this on HPOA a while ago (before their new forum system banned me somehow).
Taking off the door panels are SUPER simple! I did it at least 10 times when painting my trim pieces. Don't overflex an $80 part when you dont have to.
Step One: Look near where the handle of your door is. There is a small circle with an indent at one side. Insert a straight-slotted screwdriver into this slot and pry this cover loose to reveal a screw. Use a phillips screwdriver to take out this screw.
Step Two: Now that this screw is removed, you can take out the handle/lock/window trim piece. Pull the handle to your door into the open position. Push on the trim piece toward the front of the car until you notice it start to move (about 1-2 centimeters). The rear-most "loop piece" of the trim should come over the door handle, and you should be able to pry this piece from the door gently using a straight-slotted screwdriver. Pry from the top first to that the accessory harnesses slip out.
Step Three: There will now be 2 Accessory harnesses (Power Window, Power Locks) running from the back of the trim piece to the door lining. Apply pressure to the release switch and they will slide right out. There is no need to mark them, as they only fit one way.
Step Four: There is a similar screw cover to the one in Step one, look inside the small "wallet holder" in the armrest of the door. Remove it in the same fashion, straight-slot to pop the cover off, phillips to remove it.
Step Five: Look on the inner door jam, there will be similar covered screws on the parts where the door cover overlaps the metal (I believe there are two). In the same fashion as before, remove those screws.
Step Six: Slip your fingers between the window glass and the door trim. pull gently toward the inside of the car and you will hear a slight pop as the guides are freed from their seating.
Step Seven: With step six finished, carfully pry into the bottom of the door panel and slide it toward the front of the car, this should free the panel completely from the door. There is a special slot here that I didn't understand until I did it once.

The O is a small prong that is part of the door panel, and the rest is the "sideways U" shaped tracks you have to slide it out of.
At this point you're done! Unless the door you are working on is the driver's side door in a 1992-1993 model, in which case you will have to...
Step Eight: Disconnect the power-mirror harness from the back of the door panel. Voila! Your mid-bass is revealed (and easily removed via 3 screws and a phillips screwdriver) and you can perform an extra stage of lightening before you head to the track. This might also help if you are thinking of installing JDM mirrors, as you will need access to the door wiring to make the install possible. Hope this helped (or saved headaches!)
