I did some searching and what I am wondering is what the jdm spec k20a motor redlines at. I plan on swapping it into my crx next year and I am curious.

 

On my ITR I can bounce off the rev-limiter at 8850rpms. I usually shift at like 8750-8800. Everything from Honda on paper says 8400 though.

Now on the other K20As, in the Integra iS it redlines at like 6800rpms. If you plan on buying a JDM K20A, make sure it is from the Type R, as all K20s in Japan are labeled K20A.

how do you knoe which one has is the type R then? Is it from the redtop?

 

engine code is stamped on the block.

 

Should be the valve cover and the intake manifold for the big clues

i see red valve covers on K20a2's all the time...doh

 

Spoon has ecu's that brings the revlimit from 8000 to 8500 and vtec kicks in at 5600 instead of 5900 check it out at http://www.aj-racing.com alot of spoon stuff

Red valve cover on a K20A block, is a big clue between the Type-R and iS.
