Default Has anyone replaced thier wheel barrings before???

I had one replaced when I first bought my car, now another one is going bad and I want to do it myself. Anything special I need, or anything to watch out for? Thanks!

Hey, I think I have the same problem!

i have a 95 and the front passenger wobbles like a B*tch!
it seems like the tire isn't balanced properly, but its not the tire. it makes a horrible sound and really impedes driving. It seems to get worse as the car warms up and speed increases. Is this it?

How much are these to replace?
Is it dangerous to travel when the car is like this?

Thanks

Yeah it just makes a bunch of noise, and it will get louder as you corner on the f'ed up barring. I dont know about wobbling, that sounds a bit questionable. I dont think it's dangerous, but it cant help gas mileage.

It is very dangerous! If u can see the wheel wobble, then you should get it replaced as soon as possible. You're gonna need a press to pop out the wheel bearing.

it does sound like your wheel bearing is going and it is very dangerous. The ball bearings start to get all messed up and can actually lock the wheel if it gets bad enough. I had both of the front ones go on my '90 LS. they were about $80 each and a pain to put in because you have to press them out of the hub. i wouldn't advise driving the car anymore in that condition.

oh yea, when the car is lifted the wheel will wobble if the bearings are bad enough. Mine moved like 1/2". its bad sh*t.

Replacement isn't that bad. For mine I just took the knuckle out of the car and then went to a shop that pressed out the old bearing and pressed in the new one for 20 dollars. Hardest part is finding a shop that can do that for you. If you are in So. Cal I can recommend some places or try a suspension shop.
