ABS/Brake Problems - Tried Searching
I tried searching on my problem and found some suggestions but I just want to cover all the bases. I was driving home the other night and I noticed my brake light came on and then about 5 minutes later my ABS light came on. I pulled over and checked everything out and everything seemed ok. I have an automagic so my e-brake is rarely used. I was running low on brake fluid so I picked some up and topped it off...both lights are still on. Last Septemeber I replaced my whole brake setup up with cross-drilled and slotted rotors and Axxis Metal Master brake pads so it is still relatively new. Is there a sensor or something I should check...maybe try resetting ecu. Thanks in advance.
well when did u add fluid?luclkily for me as soon as i added fluid , my light went off.but i have also heard of people addind fluid and a week later the light went off. it could verywell be a sensor, but if it is this normally means u have a prob somewhere along the lines of the brakes or rotors.how are your pads and rotors?u could[restart the sensor comp] but u should do a deeper check its hard to tell just by lookin.u could have air in the lines also.do the brakes go to the floor? do u feel the abs kick in or do u have to apply allota pressure?
My pads and rotors are great. I had them all of that stuff replaced 9/03 and have only driven my car about 4500 miles since then. My car still stops great....the pedal is not any different and not on the floor. I stopped by my mechanic about 30 mins ago and he is leaning towards the sensor. He reminded me that I had a similar problem about 2 summers ago and he had to replace one of the sensors in the rear and it fixed it. I made arrangements to have him investigate further this monday but hopefully it will go away in a week on its own like you said.
