For those of you who run a test pipe...does your car "stink" like gas/exhaust fumes while idling?

Mine smells very strong...and Im not sure if its because of the test pipe utself, an exhaust leak..or maybe running way too rich at idle (due to the cams).

 

Yeah, **** stinks. I've been behind Black R (toda B's, test pipe, header, vafc, etc) and it's foul!!

You can do a leak test easy... just get some oitment and put it around the seams.

 

Damn I hate it!!!

It used to be SO bad that my eyes would get sore from the gas fumes!
My clothes stink after driving around for like 20 minutes

Ive used the S-AFC to lean it out alot and thats helped...at least my eyes dont get sore anymore.

 

you gotta be careful..those fumes will knock you out in a second..i had my car idling with garage open..only had a few breaths...almost took me out

 

is it really worth it?

Im gonna check for leaks, maybe play with the fuel @ idle a little more...and if all else fails..Ill get a high flow cat.

 

HX - is your car gutted? If so, put back some carpets and/or seats. Carpets acts as a sink for some exhaust gases, so don't breath it as much. I kid you not.

 

Nope..car isnt gutted. I have full carpet and the tar underneath.

 

Live with it or get a cat like everyone else who did have a test pipe... We all get cat's eventually. I hate that stink too.

 

mine stinks like an old truck since i put one in but not something that really bothers me,i only smell it if im standing behind the car. like when im going in my trunk or something.

maybe youre running rich? o2 sensor? btw i have an obd1 gsr setup so that may or may not matter.

 

yep, **** stinks, and it puts a nice yellow/brown grime on your lower rear bumper after awhile of buildup

 

Yea, and that **** is hard to get off.
Simple Green = No
Bug & Tar stuff = Sorry
Car Soap = Not even close
Mean Green = Yes, but take some scrubbing
Paint Thinner = Just Kidding
