Default VTEC wiring in a non-vtec car...

Moderators: I've done a search, and have posted in the hybrid forum to no avail...

I have a 95 LS-SE, which i just swapped a 98 b18c1 into. Now, the car is currently running on a 95 obd1 ecu (p72), however, the motor
isn't wired to the ecu to run vtec.

I've checked the hybrid site, and have poked around a lot besides that, but i still have some questions.

1) My car's wiring harness doesn't have the vtec wires run to it. Do i just run the wire from the engine to the engine side wiring harness
which plugs into the correct ecu pin? Or do i have to physically run the wire to the engine side wiring harness connector? Or to the ECU
side pin?

for example: I know that Vtec solenoid (yel/grn) has to run to pin A4...can i tap the engine side wire which corresponds to A4, or do I
have to run it to that ecu pin?

Does anyone have any pictures of this done, like which wire ran from where in the engine bay? (Not the pinout diagrams, I have those,
and have a helms)

Also, are there any complications that i might run into while wiring this up?

Tom

If youre using the LS wiring harness..I dont think there will be any wire going to A4...so you will have to run a wire from the VTEC solenoid, through the firewall, and to A4 on the ECU.

Yes that is exactly it. Your ECU connector doesn't have any wires that go into the pin. Your going to have to run three separate wires from the engine directly to the ECU.
1) Vtec solenoid wire to the ECU
2) Vtec oil pressure wire to ECU
3) Knock sensor wire to ECU

I don't remember the exact locations of the pins in the ECU, but you can look it up in your Helms manual.
