how to tell if my seals are bad on my turbo?

how can i tell if my seals are bad on my turbo? i bought a used kit and a few people are telling me that my seals are going on my turbo is there anyway to find out?

Hmm... well if it smokes that is one good way to tell.

Off the car? Little harder. Must know correct play in the shaft.

well the whole car is smoking a lot right now but thats b\c the powerstearing line broke behind the motor and fluid let lose all over the place but there isnt that much smoke out of my tail pipe at boost.
