5 big holes on bottom of airfilter box?!!? Are they stock?
First time i looked in my airfilter box I notices 5 large holes by about 3/4" diameter in addition to the main intake hole. (On the bottom.)
Are these supposed to be there, or did the former owner drill them?
Also the ex-owner (whos name was Michael Schumacher, not the F1 driver though, but funny) had duct tape over the holes, blocking the air. I removed the tape and car seemed faster.
Does anyone esle have them?

Those holes are not stock! Maybe he drills the holes and afterwards realized it's sucking hot air...
So I should block them then? Now when it is cold outside it should not draw in too much warm air.
Need to replace the airfilter too, it was dark grey.

Not blocking those holes is the same as leaving the cover open. Even if it's cold outside, the air inside the engine room is still warmer than outside......
Dark grey? Hmmmm.... I think it's time to change. Don't know for sure. Why not put a K&N in it?

I agree.
What a dumbass the former owner was!!
What partnumber of K&N do you use? There have been som discussions about this. KN does not list any for the type r on their homepage.
Some guy suggested 2830 (or something?)

I really don't know because I don't use a drop in filter.....
As I understand the Type R box is the same as the GSR airbox....

I used the K&N RU-2820, it is almost the exact size as the stock filter. Here are two pictures of it. The first picture is the RU-2820 in stock airbox, the second picture is a comparision of the RU-2820, RU-3130 and the stock filter.
For a cross reference, go to http://www.knfilters.com and search the replacement filter section... you'll see E-2427 listed for 1994+ Integra.
Because E2427 doesn't fit as good and potentially have air leakage due to the lack of rubber seal sit on top of the stock air box. And it's more expensive. There was another post discussed earlier with pictures of the E2427.

Has anyone sent a complaint to K&N about E-2427? You could get a free filter or two out of the deal.
tjtruong,
In general Foam filter flows better than paper filter, however they don't filter as good as paper filter. Although the following comparison is not comparing between comptech and K&N, I am not convinced to go with comptech filter over K&N.

Just an FYI
