Default TEmperature Problem

h23a1 with a aem short ram intake. my mechanic told me now that its a better intake it will be taking in more air but mostly hot air. he suggested i should custom make a box around the filter ?? Is this a good idea??? also if it is how should i make it and what materials should i use. thanks !

he's correct that a short ram pulls in warmer air (than a cold air), but i don't think a box around it will do much. the weight of the box will probably slow you down more than you will gain with very slightly cooler air. just take your headlight out if you go run it at the track and you'll be good.

There is no way a box would slow you down more than the benefits of cold air. wow. Not that the benefits of cold air are that much to begine with MAYBE 1-2 hp. I built myself a heatshielf for my swhort ram and cut out a decent sized air inlet underneath where the stock box sits. I used sheet metal and some neoprene on top where the box meets the hood to make a good seal.
