Who's car is this, and what tires are they running on 16"?
I got this from a post before.
What are the specs of this car if anone knows, and what tires do they squeeze on 16" rims.
Look like 17's to me. Probably toyos in that pic.
Look like atech finalspeeds. Didn't know you could get 17's in white tho.

says toyo above the wheel rims...
So what ?225/50ZR16 on a EG chasis? that is 2 inch over in overall diamater above stock size.....so that would seriously effect the gearning.
Mabey i'm still in baby worl with racing, but that tire seems a little big for the chasis to get effective suspension travle....

I believe the whels are 5Zigen.
The tires are Toyo RA-1. I'm not sure about the size but I would assume 235/40/17.
The reason some track Hondas go to the 17s is that you can get some nice wide 235 tires. Depending on the rules (UTSCC and HC for example) you can change the final drive and regain some of the lost acceleration. Also, with road racing sustained high speeds are much more common so bigger wheels help.

That's Sam Higashi's car. Those are 5Zigen wheels with Toyo tires.

Some pics I took...

Higashi has run multiple sizes throughout the season, including mismatched wheels.

We are Higashi's 5Zigen teammates, and those are the 5Zigen FN01R Forged 17's x 7's. They are actually LIGHTER than the 15 inch wheel/tire combo (mainly because the 15 inch tire weighs more than the 17 inch tire). And, like all of WCHC, we are running Toyo RA-1's.

The overall diameter of the 17 vs. the 15 is not very different, believe it or not.
In the last buttonwillow race, I swapped from 15" to 17" and I actually liked the 17" better. I honestly did not expect to, as I also thought the 17" tire is too big for the chassis. Well, based on my experience, I will be running the 17's FN01-R's for the rest of the season.
Higashi used to run 15's before. Thomas Okihisa (Toyo tires engineer, and "Tire God") runs 17" wheels on his DC2/LS, and he prefers them also.
