Default Climate control slider is stuck/jammed/fubared, what to do?

I have a 90 civic, so instead of the push buttons like the crx, i have a slider that lets me direct where the hot/cold air goes to. Normally, the switch moved freely, and it was kinda notchy whenever it was on a certain setting. But, for some reason now it's not sliding smoothly anymore. It'll sit between the first 2 settings, and when i try to slide it to the right, i get a LOT of resistance, and it'll still go towards the left side. There's this rubbery feeling to it too, as if there's a big piece of rubber keeping the bar from going right.

Could some rubber guide be out of place or something?

you have to take it out and look Bro. the levers are connected to cables, make sure they are not binding or coming off the arms

Agreed.

Check in behind there by taking off the part of the console where the stereo is, that'll make things easier.

As mentioned before, it's a little lever/arm that attaches to a cable. Make sure that lever can slide freely, unobstructed.

I didn't have air for a while because of this...it would only blow defrost. LOL

Fixed the cable attachment and all has been well ever since.

HTH.

take the center vent where the clock is out and make sure nothing is in the way of it opening and closing. I had a sensor for my alarm in there and the velcro came undone and it was wedged in the vent. thought I would give you the idea to look there. hope that helps
