1. " what do you guys think about the ep3 engine? (general opinions)"
2. " what do you guys think about going NA(stock engine), engine swap, and/or boost? (cons and pros)"
3. he said he would spend like $3-5000 on the engine.
thanks in advance.

sorry it's just my opinion after owning one. They are ok, for a little boost in power. To the casual observer, it seems pretty cool... easy to bolt on, but if you look closer, you might end up being unimpressed. I had a few problems with mine that left a bad taste in my mouth.
I would love someone to comment who has experience with the older kits, and the new kits, and if there have been major changes in the design.
I guess really most people would be happy with it, so if you really want one, don't let me dissuade you.

get a k20a for 5k and get hondata, sell stock engine for 3k and run a low 13 and add 60hp to the crank w/ just $2500 spent. Not too bad of an idea. Or get some booooooooooooooooooooooooooost thats really fun

General consensus is that we (the US) got robbed - that Honda of America should
have used the RSX-S (k20a2) engine in the Si instead of the k20a3.
However, with hondata and i/h/e and some weight reduction/other small power
adders, you could probably hit high 14s with a good driver/tires. I *think* the
Jackson Racing race headers will get you close to 160whp with intake, exhaust and
the reflash.
The engine does seem to respond well to boosting, there's a couple boosted ep3s
running 6-9psi and getting much better times/power numbers (but also massive traction problems).
The JR S/C had a few problems initially (throwing bearings or something) but they
redid some parts on the kit and now seems to be just fine and good for about 200whp or close to it.
Seems like more people have gone turbo than s/c so far.
n20 doesn't seem *that* popular, but there's plenty of ep3s that have it and have
hit mid 13s or so in the 1/4 mile.
I've yet to hear of a "blown" k20a3, with the exception of a few that were over-reved or boost improperly or something.

On the stock engine, as I mentioned before, 160whp seems about like the limit so
far. Maybe a little more. So most people who are interested in high hp figures or
low 1/4 times go with a swap or boost.
A better comparison of N/A vs. boost has probably taken place jillions of times over
at clubrsx.com (since they have the "better" US-based k-series engine).

As someone else mentioned, it's possibly to buy a K20A/A2 for $3-5k, then sell your
stock K20A3 for a good amount and come out paying only $1000 or $2000 for
a significant increase in power. But this is easier said than done (of course).
Personally, if I had $5k lying around, I'd get a cheap(er) turbo kit or s/c, lsd and a
nice suspension to go along with it.
