i just got this car wednesday.. and i think its jinxed... the other day it was leaking coolant.. turned out to be a hose. so i was looking today and it appeared to be oil around here the tranny meets the engine and around the shift linkage.. i dunno. i guess im a noob and all... i look around and it looked as if maybe a bolt was missing so i took some pics. thanxx for your help!!

i hope some of this makes some sence to someone.... maybe im just a worry wart

Where that bolt is missing: thats a engine to tranny bracket- I would get one if I was you, or you might have some future tranny/clutch problems if your engine isn't fully seated against the tranny.
It could be the rear seal....is your clutch slipping? If it was the rear seal, oil would get onto your clutch disc and you'd be having some slippage.
Could be the oil pan, or it could be an axle seal problem...and it's flinging the oil over the under carriage

I had the same thing.
NOT the rear main.. but check your washer for the transmission and make sure its not pinched which will cause a leak. or if you didnt tighten it.

also if it was your rear main you could have a grabby clutch also.
check the seals in your tranny, also check the head gasket i have seen many people go and do the whole PITA that is a rear main and just had very heavy leaking from the head gasket think aobut it on that side of the motor where is the fluid going to go the only way to go is down and that meand through or around the tranny so check everything out first.

thanxx for the help. im gonna take it in tomorrow. and see what they say. thanxx again.. i can alway count on HT
I have the same problem. I sprayed the whole underside of the tranny and block with brake cleaner and waited for the leak to come back. The leak starts at the flywheel cover, the black metal piece that is between the block and the tranny. I am almost 100% sure that it is the rear main seal. There is even a little indentation in the flywheel cover that lets oil drip out in case the rear main seal does blow. My oil pan gasket is shot also, so I ordered one of those. Only other thing it could be would be the seal between the input shaft bearing and the transmission. I will only know for sure when I pull the tranny off in a few weeks...but i'll let you all know.

yep my friend has the same problem I though it was the axle seal (so I replaced it twice along with a axle, now I'm so pissed off). I turns out it's prolly is a rear main seal I'm going to test it tommorow, engine oil level goes down pretty good so watch out people. Gots to wait until my friend gets enough money for a better clutch like stage one or something, and I will pull the tranny.
What's up with this **** like every civic gets this, my old one had the same problem.

It's like the input shaft bearing and the vtec solenoid gaskets...just defective parts from the factory I guess.
