OK so Im in the market fora wideband, and the aem one has been out for some time now and from reviews that i have read it has been very good, except for one thing, that is the it will not directly hook into hondata. I have heard about this "methods" black box. can someone explain this to me and what all is needed to make this black box, and what in the hell it actually is!? Ive done a search, and came up with next to nothing. Any help would be excellent. also i have been toldthe best one to mate up with hondata is is the PLX, can anyone confirm this for me. thanks

For the money, you can't be the PLX wideband for Hondata. I have installed 2 and just bought one for myself.

It is dead on accurate. We used the one with the bosch sensor.

 

i plan on getting the PLX .. the datalogging units use a wireless usb port for data transfering!! now thats convenient!

Convienient, but not needed for hondata.

 

I am interested too. I really like the AEM. Any input guys?

like he said like the aem one, honestly beacuse of the cool gauge, but it is not a necessity(sp?) i just want one that works correctly and is correct. I have also heard that the PLX one is awsome as well..... any more info on this "methods black box"?

I have a "Methods" black box in my car.
It's not the one he designed to make AEM work with hondata, but one he developed as a nitrous controller...

It is an awesome peice of hardware and incredibly durable. If he's making these and selling them, your money will not be wasted.

2. For this PLX, its totally wireless, except for the O2 sensor, Im sure that has to be wired into a harness of some sort.

 

I have the PLX M-300. It's a great plug-and-play unit and it's readings are very accurate. It's not the wireless WB unit, but it will only run you about $320 shipped, compared to $490 for the wireless one. Here is a link, it has some info directly from PLX too.

Also, here is a link to the wireless unit. Too bad I didn't have the extra money. But I would be kinda worried about an accurate reading anyways. Maybe I am just paranoid though.

there are different options when you buy the PLX, wireless or not wireles.. i think im going to opt for the not wireless one, cheaper and laptop can sit in the car.
so this "meathods" hes a real person, i thought that was what the box was called.. oops

1. Yes.
2. with any standalone you don't need the wireless. Just get the M300. Best $320 you can spend!!!

Yeah, methods is a real person. I'm sure he's on H-T under that name. If you IM him, he may tell you if he's willing to build you a box.
That hondata thread has the full schematic, so you could DIY, if you want though.

 

picked up my PLX yesterday for 300 shipped, thanks to a military discount.!!!

 

i have the AEM UEGO and the method black box, but I've had random problems with my AEM unit, currently i'm trying to sell it for 250 shipped, so I can pick up the PLX unit.
