d16y8 cam question....
im lookin into dropping a Crower cam and AEM adj. cam gear........also, i wanna run a VTEC controller (i.e. Apexi) to fine tune it to get the best power......mainly, i wanna set the vtec x-over at 5300 rpms and redline to about 7400 rpms......will the stock valvetrain be able to take that???
You don't want to mess with your redline with the stock valvetrain. You can't change redline with VAFC...you have to chip your ECU.
How do you know where you are gonna set your x-over?
You need to do that on a dyno.

plan on takin it to a local tuner.........Motorsport Dynamics in 916 is known for buildin great cars......just want the vtec x-over a little lower

you can only put in a crower s1 with your stock valvetrain, so i would upgrde your springs/retainers with crower as well. as a matter of fact i have that same set-up and i will post my dyno sheet in about a week or two.
my set-up:
crower s2 cam
apex'i VAFC
crower titanium springs/retainers
AEM cam gear
DC 4-2-1 header
DC short ram
2.25 full exhuast
b16 TB
