anybody make long distance road trip on their FI honda?
i never drive more than 20 minutes away from home... the one time i drove my civic to the mountains.. non stop driving for like 4 hours there, around, and back. the heat from my mani finally beat on the feedline and made it burn a hole and leak. leaving me stranded.
im now running a rubber oil cooler hose and have header wrap on it and header wrap around the manifold to block the head. thinking about buying a steel braided line from that flamenco-T guy on here with a fixed 90* end.
im just never relaxed, scared to take my car on slight road trips.. like 3 hour trips each way. anybody have troubles? TIA

Ive made probably 100+ 2-4hr trips each way both SC'd & TC'd....
I knock on wood just about every day
What exactly are you worried about?

i just got back from drving my car t CMI from LA... and its sleaved and boosted... on hondata.... 6 hours straight there and 6 hours back..... it was smooth ...
yeah I just did a 24hr drive with my LS and it held up good, the turbo is fine as long as you don't try racing the whole way, just enjoy the drive, and imagine your on an airline flght
I drove 3-4 hours to visit my g/f at college before in my boosted d16 w/revhard kit. I never had a problem with it breaking down. Only thing was the hills/mountains i was driving through. I'd be in boost (spooled up around 3grand) almost all the way up some of the steep inclines. One stretch was acouple miles at a real steep angle. I was at 4-5grand i think the whole way up that one.
just worried about that manifold beating heat on the feedline and making another hole. i think the only reason it did the 1st time was cuz it was in a tight turn tring to clean a/c on a 96 (no clearance) . i guess its fine now... but ever since i had to be towed home from the mountains. ive been nervous all the time

do any of you happen to be running the safc-II as engine management? i bought one. looking for 450's. but starting to get discouraged cuz all these people are saying how the transition sucks.. and idle problems, and CEL's, detonation... i dont want to deal with that ****.
these are the two main reasons ive been thinking of selling

I used to commute to work 50 miles each way with a turbo'd civic (SOHC with greddy kit). Did it for 2 years before having problems with over heating. the headgasket blew, then after that was repaird i found out the radiator was clogged, then i got all of that fixed, and blew the motor while racing..
i drove it on 2hr trips like 5 days a week for a couple months. then i've taken it on a couple 4hr trips. car does fine - of course i take it very easy and just cruise at a mediocre speed.
i also make stops every 1.5hr for about 15 min and let things cool off a little.

I have driven from Louisiana to Kentucky(700 miles) I have gone from New Orleans, Louisiana to Austin, Texas several times (500 miles) Only problems I ever had was wastegate bolts backing out of the manifold.
i've put 20k miles on my setup and about 7 trips from atl to fla (5-7hr) trips. no problems.
i use safc (not the safcII) and dsm 450cc inj and transisions are good, no detonation, perfect idle, etc. just have to set it up right and tune it right.

yea i am. i just PMed stan on here to get one witha fixed 90* bend. i am tring to sell or trade my hatch. but before i let it go i will def have a real feedline on it so i know there will be no problems from them. thanks for all the replies guys. you make me feel way more confident about long trips. and yes. i do the 40minute each way trips w/o trouble. every once in awhile ill smell the fiberglass burning where it gets hott on the manifold (header wrap)
