Default What is a water pump for?

Some of the members said that the water pump needs replacement around 60k-90k miles. I don't even have a clue on what it is. Anyone care to share some knowledge?

Also, can you hear when the timing belt is going bad? Or is it one of those belts you're better off replacing BEFORE something happens.

It moves the coolant between engine and radiator.

A water pump is used for the pumping of water.

Sorry I had to say it . I thought it was 90k miles to replace timing belt, I'm not sure about water pump. Get some cam gears while you are at it, that will push you to have it done sooner! hehe
