I was wiring in a volt meter today, i didnt want it reading all the time so decided to wire it to an ignition wire, so i pulled out the cigarette lighter in my ITR and cut the ignition wire and hooked in to it and took an earth from it also. I plugged everything back in again and reconnected the battery and switched on the ignition, the volt meter lit up (I took power for the illumination from the ashtray light wiring) the needle flickered up for a second and then returned to '0'. I checked all the wiring and it was ok. I then noticed that the stereo was off when the ignition was on, tried to switch it on and got nothing, i then decided to see if the cig lighter would work and it also doesnt work. I immediately thought i'd blown the back up fuse but its fine, i checked every other fuse and theyre all ok! I got my multi-meter and tried for power in the OE stereo plug and was only getting power from the illumination pin (with lights on) and from the constant 12v feed but nothing from the ignition power. Does anyone have any idea what the hell i have done, are there any other fuses that i can check or does anyone have any suggestions.....
