My raod race Ground Controls cam inthe mail today.....but without a part???
I'm posting it here cause i'm sure mor HT owners with Ground Control coil overs are in this area.
I got my springs, with my custom rates....but i did not get the large key that would help me turn the coil over after i install it....the coil over wratchet, for lack of a better word..
1) was it suppose to come with the key?
2) can i install it and still raise and lower the car without this key with my hand or some other house hold item? I can always make a key, but this should be avoided if i can.

Ground Control coilovers do not use a large wrench like other brands. All there is is an allen head bolt through the collar, and after that bolt has been loosened, you can turn the collar with your hand. Once the desired ride height is achieved, you tighten the allen bolt, and you are done.
I don't think GC ships their stuff with wrenches. All you get is an allen key for the locking bolt.
I didn't get a wrench with mine. FYI, skunk2 wrenches work if you can find a set.

THE ALLEN WRENCH?
to tighten/loosen the bolt that tightens the spring perch around the shock body?

I think hes talking about the spanner wrench. Ground Controls dont come with them anymore. And you wont be able to get much preload on the spring by hand. If you wanna preload your springs, call GC and order a spanner wrench. They are like $5 + shipping.

Why do you need to preload your springs that much?
Unless you're running 6" tall springs and are trying to have the car raised back to stock height, I've never had a problem adjusting them without a spanner wrench, coarse threads are fun like that.

they never did come with a wrench - their old ads even promote it that way - 'no wrench needed.'
all you need is the supplied allen wrench, or a standard sears/home depot one. sometimes leaning on it when turning the collar makes it easier, just don't strip the head.
