Default I finally advanced my timing.

I finally did it, I went all the way up to +20, alot of people don't agree with going that far, if you don't read this thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=81132 . The new power is very noticeable throught the whole power band, gets to redline much quicker. When I hit the gas in 5th it actually goes now!!! It only took about 5 minuts, and cost nothing. By far the best bang for the buck on my car.

How do you advance the timing? I have a 98 LS. Also, is it detrimental to the car? I don't want to do something that would hurt the car in the long run. One more thing, what does it do in terms of performance?

Perhaps I can get the dealer to advance the timing for me since I'm taking it for service (valve adjustment).

Default BLK94RS

Intake advance 20 degrees?
No adjustment to the exhaust cam?

Can you explain what happens to the overlap when you advance the timing?
What are the benefits/detriments of long -vs- short overlaps? Taking boost into account might help answer that question.

Just wonderin' how much you know about what you are doing to your car.

So his spark plugs are firing sooner than before?

I guess the only thing to worry about is that the intake valves are not closed when the spark goes off.

For some reason I thought he was adjusting the cams.
I agree:
