**first paragraph is me rambling** ok, first off.... i need to vent for a second!!! tonight, my car died in the middle of memorial, so i coasted into a side street. Well, im afraid it might be the tranny, all the accessories still worked, but the car just wouldnt start.... and the tranny(automatic) has been acting kinda weird lately. Well, i pop in in nuetral and push it by myself for about 300 ft. Then this girl comes to pick me up. we just started dated not to long ago, and i was on the way to her house. well, she is up front trying to steer it into a parking lot. well then all hell breaks loose. i push it up a slight hill into an apartment complex... and we gain a little too much momentum. she freaks out and in her flip flops shes trippy trying to hit the brakes, and i was right behind trying to yelling at her to get out of my dang way. then smash..... right into a wood post, then some ford focus. i about sh*t my pants then and there. luckily the little ford had basically no damage, and we might not even have to pay for the wood pole we took out. But my car is kinda screwed, the bumper and fender. And i had just got it out of the body shop, getting the rear fixed from when someone backed into me!!!!! so thats gonna cost a good pocket of my hard earned cash, and then god knows whats wrong with my car. thats what i need help with.

im gonna stop rambling now, and ask for the help i need. I help troubleshooting whats wrong with my car. It just died out of the blue. i was accelerating, and hit about 3200 rpms, still in first, and then it just went dead. The radio never turned off, the lights never turned off, the engine just crapped out on me. So i coasted to the side and try to start it back up, and no luck.

There were no weird noises or smells or anything. Any idea what it could be. This same thing happened last year, well, almost the same thing, and it was the ignition coil that went out. Any help would be much appreciated! it was one god-awful night

As to what's wrong with it you'll need to provide more info. Does it turn over? Does it act or sound funny cranking? Did you check for spark?

 

the car will crank, but wont turn over. i didnt get a chance to do it, i will today after school

would i be able to check the ignition module and coil myself, somewhat easily......... or would i be better off paying a shop to do it.

 

Yeah if you're certain the timing belt is OK then you'll have to look into your distributor.
