Brake....how far will they go?
I wanted to know how far on average a brake pad will go after the squealing starts or the feelers on the pad start rubbing the rotor. Anybody have a general idea on that? Thanks a lot
Well, I've already ordered and bought new pads but they may not be here for another week and I still have to drive to work...I just need to know how far can I push it before it starts hurting the rotor. Thanks for your input.
I realize that it's possible that they get too low and start rubbing on the rotors...I was trying to find out how long before it becomes bad....I'm waiting on a set of pads right now.

Just watch what you're doing & pay attention to the brakes. The pad-wear tabs are flimsy little things. They're not super accurate from one pad to the next, & everyone uses their brakes differently. So nobody can tell you how many miles before it's REALLY too late. You can drive smoothly & conserve what's left of your brakes just by changing your driving habits...
Too late for you (sorry) but other people are reading this thread too... Look at your brake pads EVERY time you take off a wheel. When they get anywhere near, order the pads & have em sitting on a shelf. Then you don't get surprised when all of a sudden(!) they're worn out.
