helicoil install....can u stack the inserts?
got a d16 tranny....the 3 mount bolt holes (u know 2 studs and one bolt) are stripped to hell, and i got a helicoil kit....and it seems like the inserts seems to be a bit shorter then the org. bolt holes
so i am wondering, can u "stack" the thread inserts.....if so....how do u do it? has any one done this before? Please let me know
thanks

Yes, you can stack the coils... I helicoiled my block (all head studs) and I had to stack 2 coils per hole... Tap the holes to the bottom depth of the original thread (if you don't have much experience tapping holes in aluminum post and i'll walk you through it) and first thread one coil into the hole to the bottom and break the tien off... use a small flat head screwdriver with some grease on the tip to pull the tien out of the hole then thread the second coil ontop of it, use the same method to get the tien out of the hole
Voila, one rethreaded hole
If you arn't comfortable doing this, it shouldn't cost more than $60 to get a machine shop to do it. ($10 per coil, installed, 2 coils per hole)
good luck
