Im going through something similar with my car, check my post, pull ur plugs and see if they are soaked with fuel if so let them sit and dry and then try starting again once dry. Test your Ignition Control Modular (Ignitor) and your coil right now im pretty sure for my situation its one of those two things and you sound like ur having the same problem

Check the color of the spark if its an orange color its just to week to ignite, you want a nice blue strong spark, if the ignitor or coil is bad it will still produce a very week spark

Kreush33,

Yeah sounds a bit like my problem. But the engine i have i don't know what the condition of it was. It was a used JDM engine. They usually are good. I have many friends with JDM engine, they run like a charm. I can check the ICM and the coil. Just to make sure. But i did replace the distributor with a working distributor. Didn't make a difference.

I did check the spark. I believe that

cylinder 1 (orange spark)
cylinder 2 (blue spark)
cylinder 3 (blue spark)
cylinder 4 (orange spark)

But i'm going to have a friend watch. Just to make sure.

Thanks for all of your help man.

if you replaced the whole dizzy then i dont think its the coil or ICM since they are all internal parts and the whole unit is new, or if you swapped it with a known working one and it still did the same thing, i would be inclined to say since two outta four are getting good spark check gaps on plugs and the plug wires for the two bad cylinders, also did you check the inside of your dis. cap are the two cylinders that are fouling have residue inside the cap on the metal where it meats the rotor. All basic stuff im sure you probably already tried most of it, but i might have hit on something you missed, also check your battery and make sure its not going bad.

Yeah i checked out the distributor, all good. Nothing wrong there. I had a friend come a take a look at it. He's a tech from Honda. He thinks that the timing is out. I'm getting backfire from the TB? He says that the intake valves are open at the wrong time. So it could be timing. But i'm 100% sure that the cam timing is still good. I wonder if the valves are stuck open. I need to do a leak down test. I'll be doing that one tomorrow.

Thanks again.
