HELP MEEE
hey i'm new to honda tech and the import scene, but i've been scopin out rex's and i think found one and i wanna see if some people who know a lot to let me know if its a good deal. i think its a little to expensive but here it is, an 88 crx si w/ B16 swap that passes CA SMOG!!! here's his ad:
" $4850.00 with all the mods and the CA Bar approval which makes the engine legal and smogable in the state of California. If you know a bit about swaps, you know why this is of major importance.
here is a list of what has been done
88 Si, clear title
Viper alarm with hood pin, 2 alarm horns ( one has an internal batt. so it will still work if power is cut to it)
car also has a custom fuel cut on it, nice anti-theft device
powerslot front disks w/ metal master pads
stainless steal break lines all the way around
lowered on skunkworks coilovers
rear upper strut bar (DC Sports)
camber kit at all four ends, but i did take out the rear because for some reason the tires were starting to rub on the wheel wells when i replaced them - funny, it didn't do that before with different manf. tires that were the same exact specs as the kuhmos i just bought.
rims are 16in. Racing Sport Evolutions (RSE) by enkei, tires are kuhmo 205/45/16 712 series (tires are brand new, only 2 months old with receipts and warranty to prove it)
car is completely re-wired to OBD 1 for smog purposes.
B16 engine with OBD 1 Manifolds, run with the U.S. spec Del Sol P30 ECU.
No internal engine mods (only an exhaust, i took off the intake to bar approve the car)
(all work done on the car has been documented with papers to prove it)
Interior is flawless for a car that's an 88
Stock recaros have been re-wrapped in black (stock looking) material and have CRX SiR stitched in them
type r shift boot (black leather w/ red stitching)
Razo shift **** (little scratched on passenger side because i wear a ring on my pinky finger)
Sunroof works perfect
I think that about sums up what has been done to the car.
The car is completely stock on the outside, but it was just re-sprayed silver two years ago; original color is silver also. all stock lines have been kept on car when painted i.e. the moldings, side-view mirrors, etc. were all left black to keep it stock looking. The car has a menacing stance (low, wide, and good size wheels on it). In my opinion it's one hell of a clean CRX. I've owned it for the last 4-5 years, and i'm basically the second owner.
The first owner owned it from the showroom until like 5yrs ago, then an acquaintance of mine purchased it, she had it for like 2months and didn't like it, i bought it off of her and put it in my dad's name (for insurance purposes) then it was put in my uncles name (also for insurance purposes), then finally in my name (currently).
Car is extremely solid inside and out. Engine runs great (no smoke) and the tranny (y1) has no grinds. and it has power doorlocks, i forgot to put that in"
is 4850 too much or does that sound about right? also i dont know what a buncha that stuff means so any posts will be appreciated. thanks. also if anyone is lookin to sell a 88-91 crx in the sacramento area, hit me up at jakc1010@msn.com

$4,850 sounds pretty high to me. what you've got basically is an 88si with a b16 in excellent condition. i would look up the private party value of an 88 crx si at kellybluebook's website (www.kbb.com), then add maybe $700 or so for the smog-legal B16 swap.
thanks bro! i looked it up and "kelly" says its worth bout 2100. i'll give him 1000 for all parts and upgrades, tallys up to about 3100. lol. ah, he was a little off. also i have another question, he said that its a really strong car w/ an aggressive clutch and he wouldnt reccomend it for a first time stick driver let alone a first time driver (
me lol im only 15 and a half) and that driving w/ a swap is a lot different than driving on a stock motor. is this pretty much true? sounds believable. anyways thanks dude, u saved me money.

you also have to remember how much trouble he went through to get the car smogged... I know, I know... you guys are gonna jump on me. But that carb sticker means and costs a lot. I think low 4k depending if it has a good body and clean title.

i think even 4k is kinda high for a b16 crx.... yea if it is your first car and your goin to learn stick on it, then i think there is a good chance your gonna wear your clutch..... should be fun tho
