Labor on clutch?

Default Labor on clutch?

ok guys, i have a 1997 SH prelude adn was wondering how much labor would be on installing a brand new clutch...OEM clutch. its an SH model.

dealer will be 9.8hrs = ~$700 if you get the parts and just bring it to a shop it should be ~$400 or less. Check out http://www.prostreetonline.com they have OEM clutch kit packages for sale.

the thing is i went to an old friend of my family's and he charged 325 for the clutch and press. plate etc. and 700 for labor. i believe this was a HUGE rip off. is it? or its about right?

personally i think you got torn a new one, i agree that it should cost around $700 total...

what kind of clutch was it? $700 is too much for labor...

I payed $692

that how much i payed for mine and i have a 97 SH also... IT was for an OEM clutch.

Maybe you should attempt to do it yourself to save a few hundred and learn a little more about cars. I did that with my car and happy I did.

well too late for that as i said i had already changed it. it works fine and great picks up great and very responsive but how long do i have to break it in before i push the car and drive it harD? b/c once in a while when i drive it hard or gun it and then shift fast, it'll give off this smell that was there when my clutch blew. is it b/c its new?

Anywhere from 300 to 800 labor cost. Depends on who does it for you.

The usual break in period is ~500 miles of gentle driving.
