Default Ordering Turbo Tommorow, Almost dead seat on trim and a/r ????

Well i have a d16y7 with the y8 intake mani. I have everything except the turbo and the fittings on the turbo. What i am needing to get some final suggestions on will be the trim and a/r. I have been reading in the archives and what not for about an hour and have talked to a couple people already and it seems that the t3/t04e 50 trim and a .48 a/r garrett is what i am almost set on. on the stock motor while learning to tune i want to get it to about 200 horse. When i am confident with my abilities i am going to build another y7 and shoot for a little over 300. i guess my question is, will this turbo be good for what i am doing now and later?

The .48 will spool faster then the .63 by only a marginal difference, but I don't think it will lay flat on the top end either. My personal preference would be go with a .63. But thats just my $.02.

50 trim is gonna be a little big. I would go with a straight t3 and a 48 ar.(maybe something like a super 60), the 50 trim is a great turbo though. We made 520 at the wheels on it on a b16 and a .63 ar.

for your goals i would think the 50 trim t3/t4 is just to big...I run a t3 super 60 w/ .48 and i made 205whp on 6psi and my goal by end of summer (job pending) is 300 on the turbo with a .63 turbine....I love the turbo, its spools pretty quick and pulls very hard to redline+...My peak power was at 70000rpms, it didnt drop off so i kno there is alot more power to be had, Im running 10psi now and it runs extremely strong...

Your buying a brand new turbo.. Why dont you get a turbo from a local junkyard or here off of honda-tech.. You can pick them up really cheap and then when your ready to upgrade youll know exactly what turbo you need for your project.. I got my T3 from the junkyard for $50.00

yea right...if full boost is 1psi in 5th gear.

im running that 60 /48 turbo on my gsr and i dont get full boost until 4000 or so... and im pushing more cfms than that little d16... you wont run out up top though, thats for sure. its a pretty fun / nice turbo.

id go w/ that, or the 60/63. check ebay, you can pick em up for 100-300 depending on if you want new or used. hey, want mine? i could get rid of it?

whatever you get, you want the .48 a/r -- spools at 4k. I just dyno'd mine. any bigger is overkill.

how much longer will it take the .63 to fully spool rather than the .48, and how high will a .48 pull to, incase i decide to get a higher rev limit!!!!

T3 turbine, .48A/R Stage 5 wheel and any T04b/e turbine with any T04 compressor wheel will be fine for your goals...I would go with a 50trim in a .50A/R housing to give you some space...
