How to stay motivated with your car when bad luck just pours..
Beginning to get pretty aggravated
. I plan to sell my car in the next few months so I have been trying to prepare it for sale. I had a few misc imperfections on my car I have always had in mind to fix.
Repaint/Blend front bumper to hood/fenders - Buncha road chips on it, etc that I don't think if _I_ was a buyer I'd be interested in fixing. So I'm fixing it for them.
Other misc crap like trunk carpet, etc...
but now, for the unexpected..
Oil pan starts leaking - I replace the gasket, no problem right? not. Greeted by smoke on my engine bay on WOT 1 week after changing gasket, turns out I have oil leaking from my oil pan onto the header.. which imo brings me to my next issue, fouling my o2
CEL goes off (2 of them, same exact time) - too rich, evap detected fuel canister leak.. great! Take it to acura.. need a new primary o2 and a EVAP bypass solenoid valve. Just recieved 2 used working replacements yesterday.
I change the oilpan gasket, and car still leaks from the tranny flywheel side... mad oil, so now I'm looking at rear main seal replacement which is $150.00 labor because I refuse to try and do it myself...
So while I'm in there I guess I'm throwing a clutch in..
SIGH....
All I want to do is fix it, such a beautiful looking, nice lil car... neglected it a little bit and its just all blown up in my face
ne1 else ever feel this way?!

I can totally relate to the title of this thread. I've gone through a few car problems and alot of personal issues that caused my wallet to become dry many times. Seems like everytime i get ready to do something major, something comes along and ***** it all up.
Yeah, for some reason whenever the smallest thing goes wrong with my car, I feel like selling it instead of dealing with the repairs.
on me.
on me.
i felt that way when i was modifying my Maxima. But once you get through the pains, you can enjoy the fruits of your labour. One of the things that got me through the repair ordeal was the fact that many others had similar problems no the forums (not this particular forum) and their repair experience helped me resolve the problems in my own car. The biggest problem actually stemmed from the coolant temperature sensor. I learned how to measure the voltage and deduce whether it was functioning up to snuff or not.
Lately ive been having thoughts of selling my Integra, but sure enough something always happens that that keeps me reminded of how great it is. Last night i went to home depot and decided to blow $1200. I'm in the midst of home renovation and have been attacking it one room at a time. Picked up a pedastil sink, toilet, medicine cabinet mirror, lamp fixtures, faucet, some misc plumbing parts and some things for the garden.
Afterwards, I dragged the 1 ton cart to the parking lot, folded the seats down in the teg and loaded the car with everything except one box. Now i fiddled with the idea of leaving my sister at Home Depot at 10:30 pm and picking her up after unloading at home but she wasnt amused. Baring the mirror -or- sister debate, i hauled everything home in my small 3 door integra. Her husband eventually came by and picked her and the mirror up.
My friends have minivans and trucks but it just seems like i do so much more hauling in my compact. It's times like this really make having the teg worthwhile. Not to mention that its great on fuel economy, particularly when youre seeing $2 a gallon at the pumps.
Apologies on the rambling.
Just wanted to show some appreciation for the car. After reading so many modification and theft threads, its rare that people actually show any appreciation for the things they have or actually put what they have to good use.
