what is the purpose of shotpeening?
removes stress risers (where things crack) and "massages" the grin of the metal making it more flexable and less likely to fail horribly.
kinda like a poor mans forging.
EDIT: shot peening is firing ball berings at a part, ike sand blasting.

it would be a good idea if you plan to run higher horsepower on stock rods...
shotpeening works, but doesnt fix everything...
its just a kind of, better than stock type of thing, but not better than forged

shot peening is usualy used to give a hard surface and leave the inner part of the material "soft". this is often used to increase both strengt and the life on parts like gears. and since it hardens the surface if helps to reduce the chance that the part will crack. most if not all cracks start at the surface.
so i don't thin it will get you anyway near the strength of any forged rod, if that was what you were hopeing.... but it will have some more strength than a stock one. (how much all depends on the shotpeening, what matterial they use, the angle it's been blasded at, and for how long, on and on,...)
