Default Shaky steering wheel?

I did a search but didnt find anything good. My steering wheel shakes under acceleration but doesnt really shake when I hit the brakes. I have cheap Slotted/Cross drilled rotors, but like I said, it doesnt shake as if it was warped rotors. It shakes while cruising also.

I have a B16 and I know my differential is shot. Im replacing it with a Quaife within a week or so, think maybe its just cuz my diff is bad?

I have no clue.

Matt

If it is only shaking under acceleration I would think it was the axles

What speeds does it do it?

I'd say start with a wheel balance. Have them check for tire seperation aswell.

could the axles really cause this?? cuz every since i did my swap my steering has been shaking...especially between 35 and 45....then it'll be good...i do have to go to align and i know its not my wheels cuz i've tried 2 different ones and the same thing happens

I had the same prob with one particular set of teg axles that I used for my B16 swap. I swapped the axles and no more vibration under load. The axles actually "bind" up causing the vibration. HTH

Wheel balance should be good, no bent rim, allignment is good, had it alligned after swap, dunno about the tie rod, never had a problem with it before. Speed, is whenever, notice it mostly after 40 or so.

this is the order id check things....rim bent &tires balanced, then steering/tie rods...could be axels as well..probably a bad tie rod if the tires are still good. does it clank when you turn all the way?

No they were from a 90 teg. Ive found that reman'd axles have very loose tolerances, junk basically. But they have a lifetime warranty and pulling them is simple.

No clanking when turning but my steering shaft boot is ripped. Has been for awhile now. Think maybe its my lower ball joints? I dont know much about ball joints, but do they wear out...maybe damaged from seperating them? If so, how hard are they to replace?

Thanks for all the help guys, this place is awsome!

can you elaborate on what the exact definition of "binding" is in this situation because i know the dictionary definition but i am curious as to how if they are bound they still move and what not?

all i can say is that ball joints can suck an egg! and have you checked any of your motor mounts yet??? always a possibility...
