people with swaps, were you able to retain your AC?
I'm piecing together some information and I'm curious if those of you with swaps were able to retain your air conditioner. Reason I ask is because no AC in Vegas sucks ***.
thanks (and yes I searched).

unless you go to a H-22 then you can use A/C with all of them.... now it may not be the bracket that comes with the new engine..... some will work though.... and i have heard of people changing their compressor for a Del-Sol one or the Dsol bracket.... anyway you can make it work.... i could have easy with my ZC but i chose not to and to trash the whole system....... good luck

excellent, this is exactly what I was considering. Did you run into any issues, and did your car come with it originally?

I swapped a 95 B18b into my HF. Used the Hasport mount and AC mount. No probs at all. My car came with AC and during the swap, I did not undo any of the AC lines. Just unbolt the compressor and zip tie it to the frame. During re-install of the new engine, assemble the AC mount before dropping in and just bolt up the compressor. No recharge.

I'm having some trouble retaining my ac because I put a JG header onto my b16crx. The header doesn't clear the front crossmember or the AC fan. Btw I'm using the hasport mount kit.
your gonna have to do some modifying to that crossmember and then you can go with one of those half size radiators from a newer vehicle and then hook up the a/c
i used the stock ac bracket that came with it and it stayed in there fine. one problem though, when i am driving and i am gonna reach a stop, i let it brake with the engine and the ac compresor hits the front crossmember and it vibrates the whole car. i want to get the hasport ac bracket but i dotn know if it will work with the HCP mount kit i got for it. does anybody know?
Yeah i'm pretty sure you can have A/C with most of the engine swaps it just takes up room some people need for other stuff. i live in florida and no AC for me, i just roll down the window's works the same in my opinion.
as long as u use the original sized compressor off the sohc it will work. If u try to use the one that most b16 swaps come with, its too big.

hehe rolling the windows down in 115 degree heat = hair dryer.

You can retain it by using the bracket, but you may have clearance issues due to the fact that the B-Series engine were designed for a larger bay in mind. Also, the compressor takes up space that you might need for other projects down the road, eg. FI.

I roll with the windows down too, it just sucks when it is A) Raining but humid like crazy & B) Stuck in gridlock traffic.

yeah i'm somewhat "spoiled" with Las Vegas heat. I had gone to visit a buddy of mine in Washington, DC and we thought it'd be a good idea to go out walking around in Georgetown in 96 degree heat with 99% humidity. I thought I was going to die. :D
