Default Smog: help

can't seem to pass it. Failed miserably. I have HC levels of 500+.

I'm thinking of running 2 cats, a carsound + stock. Has anyone tried anything like this?

hi-flow cat might be a good option. Have you put your car through a tune up and stuff and what's been modified on your car?

bascially bolt ons with ITR cams + hondata

Before i had the cams and Hondata, i pass with flying colors even with the bolt ons.

I'm about to do a tune up on my car, but just wondering if anyone tried the double cat method

has the hondata system been properly tuned? sounds like you may be tuned quite a bit rich. If factory cat is OK, a high flow cat is not needed as it won't make a huge difference if engine is that rich.

hondata has been tuned.. or so i thought..

i guess the guy who tuned it didn't really tune my idle

i checked the o2 sensor, and there was fuel on it!

so i'm probably running waay too rich at idle.

so during smog, is the hondata supposed to run closed loop with o2 sensor or be run open loop with a retuned map setting?

Hondata should be tuned with no O2 feedback (open loop) and when tuning is done, O2 sensor should be reactivated in order to allow O2 feedback for closed loop operation.

high HC usually means you are running too rich, so look to lean it out a bit.

okay. went back again. added 3 bottles of HEET to 1/2 tank of gas. Timing's at 16 degrees.

HC is 250 this time.

CO is also a bit high, forgot the numbers.

NOx dropped from 1000 to 150.

maybe bad catalytic convertor? how can you tell that the cat is bad?

hey guys, i'm in the bay area too and gonna have my smog in oct and i was wondering how did they do ur? did u have to go to the Test only station or just went to one of those gas stations? i'm hearing mix answers, some saying u get radomly pick for test only station and some saying u have to go to test only station. And what year integ do u have? cause i hear that if u have obd2 integs, they scan ur ecu and if it's not the right one, u fail! i'm coverting to obd1.
