VTEC "holding back"
Recently got a 97 uk spec gen 5 Prelude 2.2 vti. During a drive this morning everything was fine , engine pulling strongly and then after about 40 miles as I was about to overtake another vehicle there was a drastic loss of power. Acceleration became very poor and felt as if it was holding back, at VTEC stage (just over 5000rpm) the VTEC noise was intimittent (not uinlike hitting the rev limiter). The problem then fixed itself (during same journey and without any stops)
After that journey and leaving the car for a couple of hours exactly the same thing has happened - Fine to begin with, then loss of acceleration except this time it was "flat" all the way home to where its parked right now. Who knows maybe its fixed itself again ... or maybe not. Anyway, please, please give me a clue whats happening and how I go about sorting it. Thanks

I'm not a guru or even that smart with cars YET, but it could be your spark plugs misfiring. maybe plugs and a distibutor cap. Still have warranty? Take it to the dealer to have it looked at. I drive a 99 Lude and I've never come across the problem. However, my friend has a 95 accord with an H22A swap and he was losing quite a bit of power because his **** was misfiring. So who knows. Just giving my 2 cents
i had this happen once...was there any water u went through....the water go in some connections and caused this...i just went through the engine compartment and cleaned everything i could...checked spark plug then it ran like a charm
