Sohc Vtec ECU??
I was wanting to know if I would be able to use this ECU on my current setup. I have just purchased a 90 Civic HB with a 95 SOHC VTEC engine. It is currently using an Autometer VTEC switch to turn on VTEC at 5K, and it's using the 88-91 Si ECU. I was wondering If I could use the 95 VTEC ECU on my engine? I hope you guys can help me. Thank you.
you can use it if you purchase an OBD0>OBD1 harness. otherwise, it requires the soldering of like 40-50 wires
its not a plug and play swap w/o a harness.

Ideally, changing the wiring harness over and using the OBDI ECU is the best choice, but remember if you do that you will have to use the 92-95 Distributor and injectors (distributors are expensive). My suggestion would be to keep the '89-91 Ecu and wiring and get a Vtec controller. Get the car on a dyno with a proper air/fuel sensor and tune the car by adjusting the fuel map with the Vtec controller. This should compensate for not having the Vtec fuel mapping.
Good luck!

Hey I was talking to Katman, and he said that you can just use the PR3 (89-91 B16A ECU). And have him put the Mugen like program to disable some sensors and lower to VTEC point. He said that it would be the best way to go since the ECU just plugs in.
yes a JDM b16a 88-91 ecu (PR3 or PW0) would be best with a chipped with a program which runs leaner and lower vtec and rev limit....also no knock or second 02 is necessary so it could be disabled...

Has anyone ever dyno'd a 89-91 civic with a 92-95 sohc vtec motor, 89-91 distributor, 89-91 ecu, 89-91 fuel injectors, and a fields vtec controller? What are the best points for vtec and the fuel settings. Right now I have vtec hitting at 4800 or 4900 and everything about 4000 3+ in fuel. When the temperature is colder it ideals alot better, I think that 0 fuel settings are running it a bit rich. I'm not sure, doesn't anyone have a similar set-up with a vtec controller? Thanks.
