Default please help w/ low rpms driving w/ boost

i need some help tuning the car so it doesnt bog down in low rpms for a bit till i can get it on the dyno and tune it in a couple weeks. my setup is

b18c1 84mm bore 2.0ltr
stock head
drag turbo kit
rc 440
vortech fmu
aem fpr (i need fpr guage)
walbrough 255 fuel pump
vafc
stock p72 ecu

gimme a little ideas on what i need to adjust to make this car run a little better.. it tends to bog down from 1000-4000 and as soon as the turbo spools it gets to redline really fast.. it doesnt want to drive in 5th gear on the highway w/ out hesititaion. thanks for the help!

are you not describing turbo lag? only things to suggest for that is open up your exhaust that will help your turbo spool a little quicker that or just get a smaller turbo.

So it's bogging down before you even start to boost? Maybe your FPR is set too high, try dialing that down a bit and getting a fuel pressure gauge.

to be honest im not sure whats its doing.. ive only been in 1 fast turbo car and it was a couple years ago and it ran perfect.. i want mine to do run the same..

what do you you guys think about the vafc hack?? should i just ditch that vortech fmu and lean it out w/ my VAFC??

couple other things, remember im new to boost so im i dont know much..

last night it was blowing out a lot of smoke, im pretty sure it was dark smoke cause a friend driving behind me told me.. why was it doing that??

and also at a stop light i was getting ready to go and the whole car just felt like it was dieing, almost felt like the time when i was driving my NA civic a couple months ago and ran out of gas, the car just would not go anywhere, kept pumping and it was fine..

thanks for the help

The hack is a world better than an FMU, and uberdata hondata is a world better than the hack. Either step is a big one. Go to ubderdata/hondata if possible, but the hack will make a world of difference.

damn that doesnt sound good. check your oil and coolant often... look under the oil cap for milkyness. I'm not one of the honda tech pro's but I'm getting pretty good at breaking things.

you should do a compression check also...

did you use a fuel pressure gauge to set the AEM fpr or what?

sounds like what would happen when your turbo is too big for your engine to spool up.

What are your turbo specs.. a/r , etc.

rc 440
vortech fmu

Ditch the fmu and run the hack with those injectors only because probably your fuel pressure is higher then a ****.

you shouldn't need the fmu and the aem fpr, b/c the aem already rises the pressure when under boost. If your motor is bogging down, it could be because when you give it full throttle the afc is opening up those injectors (this all depends on what your settings are) and dumps too much fuel before the turbo has a chance to spool up.

also, on a technical note, unless you have a stroker kit, an 84mm bore alone will yield 1.9L.

might also try raising the low/high throttle %'s. That along with playing with your fuel curves should help.

also, what's your base fuel pressure?

the adjustable fuel pressure regulator is not on the car right now, its a stock honda regulator..
